If you want home cooked Mexican food owned and prepared by kind, friendly women, you've come to one of the best places in Kern County. Known to me as Teresa's in Wasco but discovered it is named Teresa's Taco Villa

I was driving through on my way from Bakersfield to the Bay Area. I travel a lot for work, and when I'm in the Central Valley, especially, I usually look for Mexican food because I'm usually assured of getting something decent.
Well, this time, I didn't.
I should have realized that when I walked in and noted that the majority of the clientele was white, that I was in the wrong place. On the other hand, there's not a lot of other places in the area, and I was in a bit of a rush to get back. So I just went with it.
It's a place that looks like it should have counter service but actually has a server come to your table. I don't really like that kind of sneak attack.
The menu was somewhat limited, but that's okay, since I'm only ordering one thing, right?
So I ordered a carne asada torta and a water. The server had to come back and ask what my drink order was. Twice. I finally got my water along with some chips and salsa. The cup for water was comically large, probably the same volume as a standard-sized birdbath fountain. The chips were just chips; the salsa was good: I'll have to give them that.
The torta, on the other hand, was not good. Mind you, it wasn't bad; it just wasn't good. But it was edible.
Service was slow. Did I mention I was in a hurry? Well, not to them.
$1.00 surcharge for the use of credit card. I hate that kind of sneak attack. -

This was our first time at this place and it was very busy when we went and one server who was amazing helping like 4 tables at once . My husband ordered the taco plate and I ordered two tamales ! They were fire moist and filled evenly with meat ! So good also the salsa was very flavorful didn't taste plain or watery! But I could not give them five stars because there bathroom which is not located in the restaurant was so bad I held it in until I got back into town! I'm talking really bad no toilet seat covers smelled dirty crack head squatter status ! No paper towels surprisingly soap was full so I washed my hands and I just touched the knob !!! Leaving I used my t shirt to close the door! I will not be back

What an incredible gem this place is!
Super friendly staff, great service and the food! Yum!
We had the fish and shrimp tacos and they were amazing! And the salsa is fresh homemade with a nice spicy kick.
Highly recommend this little hideaway -

This seems to be one of our regular stops after a Search and Rescue Callout when we are in the Wasco area!!! They service and food are always solid. I not a real huge fan of their salsa but every thing else is awesome.
This trip I tried to keep it on the healthy side (lol of Mexican place and healthy). I ordered the camerones ranchero which was awesome. The ranchero sauce had a great flavor and just enough kick to keep you wanting more. The shrimp were pretty good for the most part. Some were a little over coked but not a deal breaker. All in all was really good.
See ya on the next SAR callout!!!!
